I’ve been a Star Wars fan all my life, and I’m stoked to say this is the video game I’ve been looking for.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the most expansive Star Wars game ever made, with an overwhelming number of playable characters and items to collect.
It ticks all the boxes. It’s not only kid-friendly, it’s also fan-friendly with nods from across the Star Wars galaxy.

Fly to any planet featured in the films, explore iconic locations and meet and play as legendary Star Wars characters. It’s hard not to be excited about this.
It’s not only the largest game of its kind, it’s also the best looking. Creators TT Games have refined the Lego formula, making the bricks seem as life-like as ever.
If you’re like me and your one mission is to collect everything, this game has it all. Studs, Kyber Bricks, Mini-kits – it’s all there to be found.
There are literally thousands of collectibles in this game.
There are an incredible 1166 Kyber Bricks to find, each one of these is used to upgrade character abilities. That’s a time-consuming feat, but having that many collectibles forces the player to explore and opens up the game’s world to countless interactions.
It’s also the most accessible Star Wars game I’ve ever played. Once you unlock them, any planet is accessible at any time, with any character.
Coming in off the back of games like Elden ring other Ghostwire TokyoLego Star Wars is far from a challenge when it comes to combat.
But a number of new mechanics have been added to the game that helps take it away from just a “kid’s game”. It’s all dependent on how you play.
Sure, you can run in laser guns blazing, lightsaber swinging, and come out on top. Yet you can also choose to take cover behind walls, counter-attack in close combat, and clash sabers in an ever-exciting duel.
Thankfully for the seasoned gamer, there are a few settings to increase the difficulty.

This game is perfect for family time, my six-year-old daughter and I had a great time completing levels and exploring together.
Split-screen multiplayer on the couch is often taken for granted, but in recent years it’s made a big comeback. I’ve only got a small gripe with the size of the split, it’d be easier to play if the game’s camera wasn’t so tight on the character.
The characters in the game have actual voices, not just a mumble, as is the tradition in the older Lego games.
In saying that, there’s an option to turn it back to mumble mode if you’re chasing a more traditional experience.
But why would you? The acting isn’t half bad!

Daniel Logan, known for playing a young Boba Fett in Episode II: Attack of the Clones, reprises his role 20 years later as the adult bounty hunter. From the same film, Leeanna Walsman, who plays Zam Wesell, returns to voice her character.
There’s also a handful of actors from the hugely successful animated Clone Wars series jumping behind the mic.
James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Sam Witwer returns as Darth Maul, and Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker, arguably the preferred actor for the character.

Space battles are on a similar scale to Star Wars: Battlefront 2 when it comes to mechanics, they’re just simplified. Shoot, roll, loop and boost through space, navigate intense space battles and find hidden treasures.
Space exploration, while vastly open, has its secrets. From deadly bounties to Kyber meteors, random battle encounters and races, don’t skip out on space exploration.
The ability to jump to hyperspace by looking out into dead space is also a thrill.
I’d love to see some a Mandalorian storyline added in the future, alongside some Clone Wars and Rebels. Perhaps even an Obi-Wan Kenobi storyline, given the new show releases in May.
All of these stories fit within the Skywalker timeline.

It’s topping the charts around the world. Just this week The Skywalker Saga hit number one in the UK for sales.
As for how it’s faring in Australia, it’ll no doubt be going just as well. Aussie sales data is scheduled for release early next week.
The Skywalker Saga is a big change from the traditional Lego games, but it’s never been more welcome.
An absolute treat from start to finish, no matter which trilogy you play first. It’s without a doubt the best Lego game ever made.
